Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC, owned by the much discussed S Alam Group, has dismissed its eight senior officials from their jobs.
The dismissals occurred under pressure following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government.
The officials are – Additional Managing Director JQM Habibullah, deputy
managing directors (DMDs) Md Akij Uddin, Mohammad Sabbir, Miftah Uddin,
Kazi Md Rezaul Karim, and Md Abdullah Al Mamun, Chief Anti-Money
Laundering Officer (CAMLO) Taher Ahmed Chowdhury, and Principal of the
Training Institute Md Nazrul Islam.
According to bank sources, all the officials are reportedly close associates of Saiful Alam, the owner of the S Alam Group.
